1. I've downloaded the file, but how do I install it on my Blackberry?
First unzip(extract) the file that you downloaded. To install it you will have to
use a copy of the Desktop Manager software from Blackberry. Connect your Blackberry
to your computer and start up the Blackberry Desktop Manager. Now launch the
Application Loader from inside the Desktop Manager. Click the "Add..." button and
specify the Application Loader File(.alx) that was in the unzipped file that you
downloaded. The application should now appear in the list of items to install. Follow
the instructions from there to finish the installation and it should appear on your Blackberry.
2. The application doesn't appear in the Application Loader. How do I load it?
You must first unzip the file. In Windows XP you can right-click on the file that you downloaded
and select "Extract All...". Or use your favorite unzip utility.
3. Tried that but it still doesn't appear! Now what?
If you've done that, then it may be that your handheld OS, or the
Desktop Manager software is an older version.
Older versions of the OS and desktop manager have problems loading Java
applications to a handheld. Upgrading to the latest version will allow you
to install applications if this is the problem. Make sure you make backups
of all your files before upgrading!
If you want to upgrade:
1) Backup your handheld using your current desktop manager software!
2) Go to your carrier's web site (the wireless carrier that supplied the BlackBerry)
T-Mobile, AT&T , Nextel, etc.
3) Locate the Software downloads for your model BlackBerry, and follow the
instructions to upgrade the Blackberry Desktop Manager and the Handheld System software.
4) Try installing the software as before.
